For those of a certain age the name 'The Plastic Avengers' will be synonymous with quality house music. Whether on Glasgow Underground, NRK, Stickman Records or remixing Nick Holder or the H-Foundation, the Avengers blazed a trail of glory until their early retirement in 2001. Cut to 10 years later and this re-awakening of 'The Plastic Avengers' is nothing short of the quality we were used to. This time however, the genre boundaries have been courageously blurred for your ass shakin' pleasure. The title track sees The Avengers 'team up' with the vocal talents of Scottish crooner George Demure, and the result is mesmerising. A Chicago influenced crossover hit in the making and well worth the wait. Lovely stabs and boompty drums all the way, the like of which Derrick Carter would be proud. For those who are a little more vocal averse there is the 'My Dub' version, Right from the offset this means business! Moody pads, stirring reverbs and off-kilter sounds prove that there is more to life than James Blake! 136bpm never sounded so good! The final track is a remix by new boy Long Dark Tunnel (or L-D-T), who brings the sound right smack up to the future with a kind of UK Funky meets Dubstep meets Garage banger, or something equally as genre smashing, complete with more cowbell. Pro-tip it actually sounds great pitched down at about 132bpm too! Much more coming soon from meplus1, keep them ears peeled.
