非常想去看一看上海新開的Costco，早就從紀(jì)錄片里聽說(shuō)這是一家很成功的批發(fā)超市，但是沒(méi)有親自去過(guò)。最近在新聞上看到想進(jìn)賣場(chǎng)的顧客大排長(zhǎng)龍，更激發(fā)了我的好奇心，想知道為什么跟艱難度日的家樂(lè)福和沃爾瑪相比，它如此特殊。雖然我只是喜歡逛超市，并不怎么買東西，但還是想去看看到底為什么大家這么狂熱。
Well, there’s a newly openedwholesale market(批發(fā)市場(chǎng)), Costco, in the development zone that I’d really like to check out. The problem is it’s a bit far away from my place, plus I’ve been quite busy these days, also, I heard it was super crowded. Maybe I’ll go after this exam, you know, drive there with my parents.
I first became aware of Costco many years ago, from some documentaries about America. It is common knowledge that this chain wholesaler providescommodities(商品) at very reasonable prices and also offers the opportunity for further reductions if you buy in bulk. For instance, there’s thefamously cheap(以便宜著稱) roast chicken, which, I suppose, is one of its signature products. I don’t know, I think I just like wandering around these kinds of markets, you know, window shopping, not necessarily buying anything though they might be really cheap. I mean, I live with my parents, and I don’t really think bulk buying is the mode for a nuclear family like us.
But I read some news recently, the queues at the checkous there reached such an astonishing number that the store just had to close earlier than planned to make sure the shopping experience wasn’t affected too much.(長(zhǎng)難句使用) I mean, this is a phenomenal business event, especially when you realise the huge impact brought by online shopping to the physical stores. I mean, look at the tough situation that Carrefour and Walmart are facing. I’d like to go there and justsee what all the fuss is about(瞧瞧有什么了不起).
