Speaking of a skill that I am interested to learn, I would definitely pick film editing(電影剪輯)as my first choice. You know, short videos have gone vira(l 廣為流傳)in my country recently, with over half a billion people using short video apps on a daily basis. Among the videos, I noticed that edited films are very popular because people can watch TV series by catching only the highlights, so they don’t have to spend too much time watching them on television. I really want to learn this technical skill.
Before making up my mind, I searched a lot of information online. Firstly, I need to have my computer reset(重置) so that I can install(安裝) the required software. Secondly, it’s important that I make sure I purchase a legal copy. Then, I will teach myself by following the videos from the website. Since I majored in computer science at university, I think I am qualified to do this kind of job.
The reasons why I want to pick up this skill are as follows. First things first, it fulfills my interests just fine. I love to watch films and TV series but I can’t afford the time.
By watching excerpts (節(jié)選), I could quickly finish one without wasting too much time. Secondly, it would be good if I could earn some extra money by film editing, because I have noticed that some companies are paying good money for video editors. I believe hard work pays off, so after mastering this skill, I would become multi-skilled, which means I would have more opportunities in the future.
(1) Isithardforadultstocontinuelearning?Why?
I would agree that it depends on the purpose of learning, the person’s characteristics
and learning habits. But I believe that, generally speaking, it is harder for adults to continue to learn than students do. First, because adults usually have other priorities in life, such as work and family responsibilities. Second, adults usually do not have a clear learning goal like students do. As a result, adults normally do not have enough energy and motivation for continuing study, which makes it a very hard task for them. If an adult manages to continue to learn in his or her busy life, he or she must have a strong motivation and self-discipline.
(2) What are the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning?
The advantage of distance learning is obvious: we can learn no matter where we are. The flexibility of learning location can save us a lot of time and improve the learning efficiency. We do not need to commute to the classroom, which can save us at least a few hours a day. When it comes to disadvantage, I would say the efficiency of learning will be in doubt, too. Because distance learning makes it difficult to build connection between the students and teacher, and the students might be more distracted when taking classes online. What’s more, technical problems are big issues that influence the classroom
