Grug had a new cookbook.

瓜哥有一本新菜譜。

He decided to try:tea-tree soup,

他決定試一試：做個(gè)茶樹湯，

gum-leaf rolls and carrot cake.

膠葉卷、胡蘿卜蛋糕。

He picked some tea-tree leaves

他撿了一些茶樹樹葉，

and gum leaves from the tree...

還在樹上折了一些膠葉...

The recipe for soup said:

菜譜上說(shuō)：

Chop up the tea-tree leaves...

如果做湯，要把茶樹樹葉切碎...

...put them in a pot and cover them with cream.

...再把它們放到鍋里，然后覆蓋上奶油。

Grug cooked the mixture over his fire to make tea-tree soup.

做完這些，瓜哥把鍋吊在火上煮茶樹湯。

Next Grug cut up the carrots and spinach.

接下來(lái)瓜哥把胡蘿卜和菠菜切碎。

He mixed them with eggs and flour.

他把雞蛋和面粉也加進(jìn)來(lái)，攪拌在一起。

Then he wrapped the mixture in gum leaves

然后他用膠葉把混合好的材料卷起來(lái)

to make gum-leaf rolls.

做成了膠葉卷。

But the mixture oozed out, so Grug?

但是食材都從膠葉兩邊擠出來(lái)了，

ate the gum leaves isntead.Very tasty!

于是瓜哥就把膠葉卷給吃了。真好吃！

Now it was time to make the carrot cake.

現(xiàn)在該做胡蘿卜蛋糕啦。

He beat flour, eggs and milk together in a bowl.

他在碗里放了面粉，雞蛋還有牛奶，用攪拌器攪拌好。

He licked the mixture. Delicious!

他舔了一口。真美味！

Grug baked the rest of the mixture,

瓜哥把剩下的部分拿去烤，

but it came out burnt and black.

但是烤出來(lái)的卻是黑乎乎的。

He put carrots on the top to make a carrot cake.

瓜哥把胡蘿卜放在蛋糕上，完成了胡蘿卜蛋糕的最后一步。

He dipped the carrots into his tea-tree soup and ate them.

他拿胡蘿卜在茶樹湯里蘸了蘸吃了下去。

Very, very tasty!

真是太，太，太好吃了。

Then he carved a face in the cake

接著他在烤糊的蛋糕上刻了一張臉，

and put it on his mantelpiece.

然后掛在壁爐上。

Grug went to bed

忙完了，瓜哥躺到了床上

and drank a cup of his favourite lemograss tea.

喝了一杯他最愛的檸檬草茶。
