Just as the tiger symbolizes vitality and health, our foundation has continued work over this past year for world where everyone has the chance to live a healthy and productive life, no matter where in the world they are.

The recent troubling and highly contagious omicron variant means the Covid-19 pandemic is not yet over.

Since the onset of the pandemic, China has worked hard to not only contain the virus, but also contributed to closing the equity gap by supporting other countries with many different supplies, including great vaccines.

This work is thanks to incredible efforts by many inspiring individuals and organizations.

I'm hopeful that by the end of this new year, the covid pandemic will largely be over.

I was also thrilled to hear the news that in June the WHO had recognized China's remarkable success in defeating malaria declaring the country officially free from the disease.

我非常振奮地看到，去年6月，世界衛(wèi)生組織為中國頒發(fā)了消除瘧疾認(rèn)證，這是對(duì)中國戰(zhàn)勝瘧疾的非凡成就的認(rèn)可。

Here again, we're seeing China paying it forward by contributing towards efforts to achieve the global eradication of malaria.

Although it's been another challenging year, I wanna celebrate the progress that our Chinese partners had made, working alongside the foundation in fighting Covid-19, combating malaria, strengthening health systems in African countries and ensuring more people in China and around the world benefit from life-saving innovation.

盡管過去的一年充滿挑戰(zhàn)，蓋茨基金會(huì)始終與中國伙伴密切合作，在抗擊新冠、支持非洲國家防控瘧疾、加強(qiáng)衛(wèi)生系統(tǒng)建設(shè)，以及幫助中國和全球更多人受益于拯救生命的創(chuàng)新等方面取得了可喜的進(jìn)展。

Because of these efforts more people in China are getting vaccinated against cervical cancer and other infective diseases.

And China made HPV vaccine that has gained WHO approval can now be used for cervical cancer in women and girls where low-cost vaccines have not yet been available.

Scientists in China use technology to develop Covid-19 treatments, anti-malaria drugs and new insecticides that prevent the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases.

Pilot projects in both China and Senegal will help reduce these transmissions by improving sanitary conditions.

I can go on them and these remarkable achievements really make me optimistic as I looked the year of the tiger.
