As 2023 draws to a close, China's National Postgraduate Entrance Examination for 2024 is set to kick off. The exam will be held from Dec 23 to 25 with 4.38 million applicants, a decline of 360,000 candidates compared to the previous year, according to data released by the Ministry of Education's official website on Nov 22.
隨著2023年接近尾聲，2024年全國碩士研究生招生考試即將拉開帷幕。據(jù)教育部網(wǎng)站消息，該考試將于2023年12月23日至25日舉行。據(jù)統(tǒng)計，2024年全國碩士研究生考試報名人數(shù)為438萬，比去年減少了36萬人。

Over the past eight years, the number of candidates applying for the examination has seen a consistent upward trend. Official data reveals that the registration for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 were 3.41 million, 3.77 million and 4.57 million, respectively. In 2023, the number reached an all-time high of 4.74 million applicants.
近年來，考研人數(shù)連續(xù)八年增加。根據(jù)官方公布數(shù)據(jù)，2020年、2021年和2022年的考研報名人數(shù)分別為341萬人、377萬人和457萬人，2023年增至474萬人，創(chuàng)下新高。

With the increasing popularity of the postgraduate entrance examination, it has become increasingly common for candidates to spend multiple years preparing for the exam, as well as foster a growing willingness to take the exam repeatedly until they achieve their desired results. 
隨著考研的熱度逐年增加，考生連續(xù)多年備考已經(jīng)成為普遍現(xiàn)象，反復(fù)參加考試直到取得理想成績的意愿也越來越強。

Experts have identified this trend as the "gaokao-ization" of the postgraduate entrance examination, likening this exam with the gaokao, the compulsory exam to enter university after high school.  Experts also highlight that if this trend continues to grow and more students opt for the examination process rather than finding a job, this will bring new challenges to both the candidates and the further development of higher education.
專家將這一趨勢稱為研究生入學(xué)考試的“高考化”，并將其與高中畢業(yè)后進入大學(xué)的必修課高考相提并論。專家還強調(diào)，如果這種趨勢繼續(xù)發(fā)展下去，更多的學(xué)生選擇考試而不是找工作，這將給考生和高等教育的進一步發(fā)展帶來新的挑戰(zhàn)。
