端午節(jié)特別節(jié)目：詩中憶屈原 Remembering Qu Yuan in poetry

"Long, long had been my road, and far, far was the journey; 

I would go up and down to seek my heart's desire."
“路曼曼其修遠兮, 吾將上下而求索”。

This is a famous line from the poem "Li Sao", or Encountering Sorrow, written by ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan. 
這個名句出自詩篇《離騷》，作者是中國古代詩人屈原。

It portrays the poet's positive attitude to move ahead amid obstacles to fulfill his dreams. 
該詩體現(xiàn)了詩人為實現(xiàn)自己的理想，在艱難險阻中積極求索前進的樂觀精神。

Qu Yuan was a patriotic poet and a minister of the ancient state of Chu during the Warring States period (475-221 BC), which was located in the Yangtze River area of Central China. He died by committing suicide out of love for his country amid its inevitable decline. 
屈原是一位愛國詩人，也是戰(zhàn)國時期（公元前475-221年）楚國的一位大夫。楚國位于現(xiàn)華中地區(qū)的長江流域，隨著楚國的衰落、滅亡。出于對祖國的熱愛，屈原自殺而亡。

The ancient literary giant is revered as the father of Chinese romantic literature, best known for his poems collected in the anthology "Chu Ci", literally, "Poetry of Chu". "Li Sao" is one of the most popular pieces. 
屈原是中國古代文學巨匠，被譽為中國浪漫主義文學之父。尤以收錄在《楚辭》中的詩篇最為著名?！冻o》字面意思是“楚地的詩歌”。屈原的《離騷》如今是其中最廣為流傳的詩篇之一。

Using a lot of metaphors, the poem expresses the author's love for his country and his political aspirations, as well as sadness over the suffering of ordinary people.

One line reads, "Heaving a long sigh, I brush away my tears; Grieving for man’s life, so beset with hardships."

Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River. Legend has it, shortly after he drowned, locals wrapped leaves around rice and put them into the river to distract, and feed, the fish from eating his body. They also sat on long, narrow paddle boats, known as dragon boats, making sounds to scare away the fish. 
屈原自溺于汨羅江。相傳，他溺水不久后，當?shù)厝嗣裼脴淙~包好飯團，投入江中喂食魚群，以轉(zhuǎn)移魚群的注意力。以免它們啄食屈原的身體。他們也坐在船身細長、被稱為“龍舟”的帶漿木舟上，制造聲響嚇走魚群。

These two rituals were later developed into two important customs of the Dragon Boat Festival: Every year on the day, Chinese people eat 'zongzi' (glutinous rice dumplings and race dragon boats, to remember the poet and what he stood for.
