Resilience in real economy shores up growth
11月份實(shí)體經(jīng)濟(jì)穩(wěn)中有升

Retail sales of consumer goods went up 3.9% year-on-year in November, while value-added industrial output increased 3.8% last month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Wednesday. Fixed-asset investment went up 5.2% year-on-year in the first 11 months of the year. The country's surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5% in November, 0.2 percentage points lower than the same period last year. 
國(guó)家統(tǒng)計(jì)局12月15日發(fā)布的數(shù)據(jù)顯示，11月份，社會(huì)消費(fèi)品零售總額同比增長(zhǎng)3.9%，規(guī)模以上工業(yè)增加值同比增長(zhǎng)3.8%。1-11月份，全國(guó)固定資產(chǎn)投資(不含農(nóng)戶)同比增長(zhǎng)5.2%。11月份，全國(guó)城鎮(zhèn)調(diào)查失業(yè)率為5.0%，比上年同期下降0.2個(gè)百分點(diǎn)。

"The growth resilience has been continuously enhanced and the economic operation is generally stable," NBS said in a statement. "Despite multiple pressures, the fundamentals of China's long-term economic development stood unchanged," said NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui at a press conference. As macro policy adjustment intensifies, policies to ensure supply and price stability take effect and measures to expand domestic demand gain momentum, expectations from firms will remain generally stable, Fu said.
國(guó)家統(tǒng)計(jì)局在公告中表示，我國(guó)國(guó)民經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展韌性不斷增強(qiáng)，經(jīng)濟(jì)運(yùn)行總體穩(wěn)定。國(guó)家統(tǒng)計(jì)局新聞發(fā)言人付凌暉在發(fā)布會(huì)上說："盡管面臨多重壓力，但是要看到，我國(guó)長(zhǎng)期向好的基本面沒有變。"他表示，隨著宏觀政策調(diào)節(jié)的力度加大，保供穩(wěn)價(jià)政策繼續(xù)顯效，擴(kuò)大內(nèi)需持續(xù)加力，企業(yè)預(yù)期有望保持總體穩(wěn)定。

China will grant zero-tariff treatment on 98% of taxable items originating in the least-developed countries, according to a statement released by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Wednesday. 
國(guó)務(wù)院關(guān)稅稅則委員會(huì)12月15日對(duì)外發(fā)布公告，對(duì)原產(chǎn)于最不發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家98%的稅目產(chǎn)品，適用稅率為零的特惠稅率。

Agricultural products such as peanut oil and chemicals such as polythene will be incorporated into the scope of zero-tariff treatment. The move will help to further facilitate China's imports from African countries, and advance the building of a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future, and share market opportunities with the least-developed countries, the commission said. 
此次調(diào)整，將花生油等農(nóng)產(chǎn)品、聚乙烯等化工品納入零關(guān)稅待遇范圍，將促進(jìn)我國(guó)自非洲進(jìn)口，推動(dòng)構(gòu)建高水平中非命運(yùn)共同體，進(jìn)一步同最不發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家共享市場(chǎng)機(jī)遇。

China's Vice Premier Han Zheng on Tuesday stressed the need to prioritize prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure a "simple, safe and splendid" 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Han, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of a leading group overseeing the Beijing 2022 preparations, made the remarks during an inspection tour of several venues in Beijing, including the National Skating Oval, the Winter Olympic Village, the Main Media Center, the National Indoor Stadium and the National Aquatics Center.

Han said the pandemic is a stern test for Games organizers, and urged everyone to stay vigilant at all times and strictly follow COVID-19 countermeasures. With the Winter Olympics just 50 days away, Han also called for solid efforts in the final preparations at venues and supporting facilities to ensure the smooth running of the Games. The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will take place between Feb 4 and 20, followed by the Winter Paralympics from March 4 to 13.

'Gold' picked as Japan's kanji of 2021
'金'字當(dāng)選日本2021年度漢字

The kanji for "金" (kin) was named the single most representative kanji character corresponding to the social mood in Japan this year, by the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation on Monday. The Kyoto-based organization said that "Kin" was a fitting choice for 2021 because of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, where Japanese Olympic team saw their best results ever. 
日本漢字能力檢定協(xié)會(huì)12月13日宣布，最能夠反映日本2021年世態(tài)民情的年度漢字為"金"。這家總部位于京都的機(jī)構(gòu)認(rèn)為，"金"字當(dāng)選的理由是日本奧運(yùn)代表團(tuán)在東京奧運(yùn)會(huì)和殘奧會(huì)上獲得了迄今為止最好成績(jī)。

Japanese TV stations broadcast Monday's announcement live as Seihan Mori, master of the ancient Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto, painted the character on a large white panel with an ink-soaked calligraphy brush. The selection of kanji of the year began in 1995. The top kanji character last year was mitsu, which means dense, crowded and close, describing the three situations people in Japan were urged to avoid in order to prevent infections.
日本多家電視臺(tái)直播了年度漢字揭曉儀式，清水寺住持森清范用沾墨的毛筆揮毫將一個(gè)"金"字書寫在一張大大的和紙上。日本年度漢字評(píng)選活動(dòng)始于1995年。去年的年度漢字為"密"，指的是日本為了防疫提倡的拒絕"三密"(密閉空間、人員密集場(chǎng)所、密切接觸)生活方式。
