Water diversion project benefits 140m people
南水北調(diào)7年惠及1.4億人

China's mega water diversion project has transferred nearly 50 billion cubic meters of water from major rivers in the south to the drought-prone north over the past seven years, said the company in charge of the project Sunday. It marked the seventh anniversary of the comprehensive operation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The project has benefited 140 million people and optimized the economic development pattern of more than 40 large and medium cities. 
12月12日是南水北調(diào)工程全面通水7周年。中國南水北調(diào)集團(tuán)有限公司當(dāng)日表示，南水北調(diào)工程全面通水7年來，已累計從南方的主要河流向干旱易發(fā)的北方調(diào)水近500億立方米，受益人口達(dá)1.4億人，40多座大中型城市的經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展格局因調(diào)水得到優(yōu)化。

The project has changed the water supply pattern in northern China, promoted the rehabilitation of rivers and lakes, optimized and adjusted the industrial structure, and produced enormous economic, social, and ecological benefits, said a Ministry of Water Resources official.
水利部相關(guān)負(fù)責(zé)人表示，南水北調(diào)工程全面通水7年來，改變了北方地區(qū)的供水格局，同時推動復(fù)蘇受水區(qū)河湖生態(tài)環(huán)境，優(yōu)化調(diào)整了產(chǎn)業(yè)結(jié)構(gòu)，發(fā)揮了巨大的經(jīng)濟(jì)、社會和生態(tài)效益。

Long March family notches 400th launch
長征火箭迎來第400次發(fā)射

China lifted a Long March 4B carrier rocket on Friday morning to place several satellites into space, marking the 400th launch of the Long March family. The rocket blasted off at 8:11 am from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The payloads in the mission－Shijian 6-05 satellites－are tasked with spatial environmental surveying and new technology demonstration. China launched its first carrier rocket－a Long March 1－in April 1970 to send its first satellite, Dongfanghong 1, or East Red 1, into space. 
12月10日8時11分，我國在酒泉衛(wèi)星發(fā)射中心用長征四號乙運載火箭，成功將實踐六號05組衛(wèi)星發(fā)射升空，衛(wèi)星將用于開展空間環(huán)境探測和新技術(shù)試驗驗證。這次任務(wù)是長征系列運載火箭的第400次飛行。1970年4月，我國發(fā)射了第一枚運載火箭長征一號，將第一顆衛(wèi)星東方紅一號送入太空。

Since that first launch in 1970, the Long March carrier rocket series has carried out 92.1% of China's space launch missions. Over the past 51 years, the Long March series has sent more than 700 spacecraft into space. The overall success rate of the Long March fleet is 96.25%. In the 400 launch missions by Long March rockets, the first three 100 launches were completed in 37 years, 7 and a half years, and more than 4 years, respectively. The latest 100 launch missions were carried out within only 33 months, since March 2019.
此后，長征火箭51年間實施了我國92.1%的航天發(fā)射任務(wù)，先后將700余個航天器送入太空，發(fā)射成功率為96.25%。在400次發(fā)射里，前三個100次分別用時37年、7年半和4年多，而從2019年3月發(fā)射次數(shù)達(dá)到300次，到如今的400次，僅用了33個月。

Port cities asked to step up virus control efforts
我國加強口岸城市疫情防控

China has ramped up COVID-19 containment measures in port cities following several domestic outbreaks triggered by infections imported via such cities, with the new Omicron variant complicating the fight against imported cases. People leaving land ports in the country should provide proof of negative nucleic acid test results no older than 48 hours before departure. 
由于近期我國多起本土聚集性疫情均是境外疫情經(jīng)口岸城市輸入，新出現(xiàn)的奧密克戎變異株令外防輸入的壓力增大，我國出臺了加強口岸城市疫情防控的措施。要求近期離開陸地邊境口岸城市人員需持有48小時內(nèi)核酸檢測陰性證明。

Cities connected to ports in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions are exempt from the rule, the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism said in a circular released on Saturday. These requirements will stay in effect until March 15. The circular requires people arriving at land ports to undergo at least one test upon arrival. The number of tourists visiting these places should be capped, and precautionary alerts on the risk of the virus' spread should be conveyed to them, it said.
國務(wù)院聯(lián)防聯(lián)控機(jī)制12月11日印發(fā)此通知，與香港、澳門相連的口岸不在此范圍內(nèi)，前往陸地邊境口岸城市人員抵達(dá)后至少進(jìn)行1次核酸檢測。根據(jù)通知，上述要求的時間范圍為，從公告之日起至2022年3月15日。陸地邊境口岸城市要做好旅游限流、風(fēng)險提示等工作。

Tornadoes rip through 6 US states
美國龍卷風(fēng)災(zāi)害造成超百人死亡

The death toll may rise to 100 after at least 30 tornadoes swept through six states Friday night in the central parts of the United States, including Arkansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Missouri. A candle factory in Kentucky has been completely destroyed. "There were about 110 people in it at the time that the tornado hit it," Kentucky Gov Andy Beshear said. "We believe our death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians and probably end up 70 to 100." Beshear has declared a state of emergency in the area.

Tornadoes also hit a nursing home in Arkansas and took off the roof of an Amazon warehouse in Illinois, causing fatalities. Another nursing home and a fire station in Trumann of Tennessee also sustained substantial damage. According to PowerOutage.US, at least 331,549 utility customers in four states were left without power. Issuing a tornado warning on Friday, the National Weather Service said at least 25 million people were under threat from massive thunderstorm systems.
龍卷風(fēng)襲擊還重創(chuàng)了阿肯色州一家養(yǎng)老院，伊利諾伊州一個亞馬遜倉庫的屋頂被掀翻，均造成人員傷亡。田納西州的一家養(yǎng)老院和消防局大樓也遭到龍卷風(fēng)襲擊，損失巨大。據(jù)美國電力跟蹤網(wǎng)站數(shù)據(jù)，此次龍卷風(fēng)襲擊造成其中4個州331549名用戶斷電。美國國家氣象局在12月10日發(fā)布龍卷風(fēng)預(yù)警時表示，預(yù)計至少有2500萬人口將會受到此次龍卷風(fēng)襲擊的影響。
