China's 3rd national soil census kicks off
今年開展第三次全國土壤普查

The State Council, China's cabinet, has decided to conduct the third national soil condition census from 2022 to 2025, according to a circular released Wednesday. The census will target soil on arable land, garden plot, forest land, grassland and other agricultural lands around the country, including some unused land, the circular said. 
2月16日，國務(wù)院印發(fā)《關(guān)于開展第三次全國土壤普查的通知》，決定自2022年起開展第三次全國土壤普查。普查對象為全國耕地、園地、林地、草地等農(nóng)用地和部分未利用地的土壤。普查時間為2022—2025年。

The census aims to find out soil types and distribution around the country, as well as current status and changing trends in soil resources, while acquiring basic data such as soil quality, properties and utilization status, in order to improve protection and utilization of soil resources.
《通知》明確，全面查明查清我國土壤類型及分布規(guī)律、土壤資源現(xiàn)狀及變化趨勢，真實(shí)準(zhǔn)確掌握土壤質(zhì)量、性狀和利用狀況等基礎(chǔ)數(shù)據(jù)，提升土壤資源保護(hù)和利用水平。

Qi wins gold in freeski men's aerials

Chinese free skier Qi Guangpu scored 129 points to grab the men's aerials gold in his fourth Olympic appearance at Beijing 2022 on Wednesday. It's the seventh gold for China in the ongoing Beijing Winter Olympics, and the third Olympic gold for the Chinese freeski aerials team in history.

China's CPI up 0.9% in January

1月CPI同比漲幅回落至0.9%

China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 0.9 percent year-on-year in January, down from the 1.5-percent increase a month ago, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday. A breakdown of the data showed that food prices dropped 3.8 percent year-on-year, a decline 2.6 percentage points higher than in December 2021. The price of pork, a staple meat in China, slumped 41.6 percent year-on-year, compared with a 36.7-percent decrease a month ago. Non-food prices rose 2 percent from a year earlier, eased from the 2.1-percent increase reported in the previous month. 
國家統(tǒng)計(jì)局2月16日發(fā)布數(shù)據(jù)，1月份，全國居民消費(fèi)價格指數(shù)（CPI）同比上漲0.9%，漲幅比上月回落0.6個百分點(diǎn)。其中，食品價格下降3.8%，降幅比上月擴(kuò)大2.6個百分點(diǎn)。豬肉價格同比下降41.6%，降幅較上月擴(kuò)大4.9個百分點(diǎn)。非食品價格上漲2.0%，漲幅比上月回落0.1個百分點(diǎn)。

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, gained 1.2 percent year-on-year, flat with a month ago. Wednesday's data also showed the country's producer price index, which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went up 9.1 percent year-on-year in January. 
1月扣除食品和能源價格的核心CPI同比上漲1.2%，漲幅與上月相同。1月份，全國工業(yè)生產(chǎn)者出廠價格指數(shù)（PPI)同比上漲9.1%。

Beijing normally doesn't have much snow in winter, so artificial snow is being used at venues for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, with the quality of the white snow drawing praise from many athletes, and even officials. "This is by far the best man-made snow I've ever skied on," American freestyle skier Ashley Caldwell said at a press conference. 
北京的冬天一般降雪量不大，因此2022北京冬奧會的比賽場地使用了人造雪，這些潔白的人造雪的質(zhì)量獲得了許多運(yùn)動員和官員的稱贊。美國自由式滑雪運(yùn)動員阿什利?考德威爾在一次新聞發(fā)布會上表示：“這是我迄今為止滑過的最好的人造雪。” 

After receiving feedback from many athletes through the training period and first days of competition, Kit McConnell, sports director of the International Olympic Committee, said the participants believe the artificial snow is outstanding. "The focus is on doing this in a sustainable way, and also ensuring the athletes have an outstanding field of play on which to compete at the Olympic level," McConnell said.
