1. 2022 WINTER PARALYMPIC GAMES TORCH RELAY BEGINS TOMORROW

The Paralympic Heritage Flame for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games was lit yesterday (February 28) in Stoke Mandeville, a village northwest of London that is recognized as the birthplace of the Paralympic Games. The flame will be sent to Beijing, virtually. Zhang Yue has the details.

昨日（2月28日），在殘奧會的發(fā)源地——英國曼德維爾，舉行了2022年北京冬殘奧會的火種采集儀式。更多信息請聽張樂的報道。

The design of the flame box was inspired from a traditional Chinese bronze ritual vessel called a "Zun". The first two torchbearers【火炬手】were two of Britain’s wheelchair curling Paralympic medal winners. Four-time Paralympian Angie Malone lit the flame despite the pouring rain. Various sports officials and para-athletes said they hold high expectations for the Beijing Winter Paralympics.

火種臺的創(chuàng)意靈感來自于中國傳統(tǒng)青銅禮器“尊”。頭兩名火炬?zhèn)鬟f手是兩位英國輪椅冰壺殘奧會獎牌得主。緊接著，四屆殘奧會選手安吉·馬隆在雨中點燃了火種。官方負責(zé)人與殘奧會運動員們紛紛表示，他們對本次北京冬殘奧會非常期待。

“I think we’ve obviously got a Games under COVID, so we were able to see how the COVID was mitigated【減輕，緩和】for the Olympic Games, and no one from our Olympic team, Team GB, got COVID during the Games, and they were all able to compete. Tomorrow’s torch relay will continue until March 4th across all three competition zones, Beijing, Yanqing District, and Zhangjiakou. Of the 565 torch bearers 21% are people with disabilities. The flames will be collected from eight spots tomorrow morning（March 2）, and gathered at the Temple of Heaven【北京天壇】. 96 athletes representing China will participate in the games. The Chinese paraalpine skiing team has been training hard for the games in Chongli, Hebei province.

明日（3月2日）的火炬接力將持續(xù)在三個比賽區(qū)（北京、延慶區(qū)和張家口）進行，直到3月4日開幕為止。在所有的565名火炬手中，有21%是殘疾人。曼德維爾火種以及另外8路火種將匯集成北京冬殘奧會官方火種，于明日上午（3月2日）聚集在北京天壇。本次冬殘奧會中，將有96名運動員代表中國參加。而中國殘疾人高山滑雪隊已經(jīng)在河北省的崇禮區(qū)開始了緊鑼密鼓的備戰(zhàn)。

“Our athletes are required to go through 3 hours of training in the morning, and three in the afternoon. It’s a very demanding training schedule.” 訓(xùn)練上午3個小時，下午3個小時。目前應(yīng)該說是高強度的訓(xùn)練和鞏固的過程，這是我們抓的最核心的環(huán)節(jié)。

The Palalympics, will take place from March 4 to the 13 and is expected to be one of the biggest ever with around 600 athletes from more than 50 countries competing in 78 events.

本屆冬殘奧會將于3月4日至13日舉行。這預(yù)計是有史以來規(guī)模最大的冬殘奧會之一，屆時將有來自50多個國家和地區(qū)、約600名運動員參加共78個項目的比賽。

2. FIRMS IN EMERGING INDUSTRIES SUCCEED AT HONGQIAO CBD

A company that operates online stores for fashion brands like Michael Kors and Levi’s has also moved its headquarters here, trusting that the CBD will attract the necessary talent, and lead them to the growth they seek.

“Most of our suppliers are in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, our distributors are in mostly located in the major cities of the Yangtze Delta. Now that we’re here, we hope to grow with many of our partners in the CBD.” 我們的供應(yīng)商很多是江浙的，我們的渠道基本上全部覆蓋了長三角的地級市。我們來了以后，很多配套合作伙伴也在這里生根發(fā)芽，一起發(fā)展。

The site packs quite the economic punch【經(jīng)濟發(fā)展強勁】for its size, generating close to 10 percent of the entire economic value of the Yangtze Delta Region. In the past year, tax revenue in the Hongqiao International CBD increased nearly 30 percent compared to 2020 (that is 12 percent higher than the city’s average). Among the 63,000 companies who have already settled in the CBD, almost two third’s of them are in growing industries. These firms benefit more from synergy than those in traditional manufacturing, and officials hope that’s what the CBD will provide.

虹橋國際中央商務(wù)區(qū)經(jīng)濟發(fā)展勢頭猛烈，以長三角不到2%的區(qū)域面積，就貢獻了近10%的經(jīng)濟總量。去年全年，該區(qū)域稅收收入同比增長近三成，比上海全市高了近12個百分點。引進的6萬3千多家企業(yè)中，新賽道企業(yè)數(shù)和注冊資本占比都超過七成。借助大虹橋大商務(wù)、大交通、大會展優(yōu)勢以及產(chǎn)業(yè)發(fā)展基礎(chǔ)，這些新賽道企業(yè)正在把觸角向長三角、全國乃至全球延伸。

3. CONCERT HELD TO COMMEMORATE THE SHANGHAI COMMUNIQUE

以曲為橋，上海開展中美公報紀念音樂會

Classic Chinese and American songs were performed at a concert in Shanghai last night (February 28), commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Shanghai Communiqué. The event aimed to remind people of the moment that the half-century of friendship between the two countries began. Zhang Yue was there and tells us more.

昨晚（2月28日），在紀念《中美聯(lián)合公報》50周年的音樂會上，中美的經(jīng)典歌曲余音繞梁，不絕于耳。本次舉辦的紀念音樂會彰顯了中美兩國半個世紀以來的深厚友誼仍在繼續(xù)。更多信息請聽張樂的報道。

"Jasmine Flower" was performed by Chinese and American students, the song is an allegory【寓言，寓意】of spring, its lyrics celebrate white Jasmine blossoms .

中國民歌《茉莉花》在會客廳中響起，由中美學(xué)生攜手演唱。這首享譽海內(nèi)外的歌飽含春天的氣息，歌詞中滿載著對純白茉莉花的贊美之情。

“On a practical level, it is a very easy song for our kids to learn because that’s not a song that they grew up with. But it’s very symbolic of the relationship between the two countries.” 實際上，對于我們的孩子來說，學(xué)習(xí)演唱這首歌很容易，因為這不是伴隨他們長大的歌。但它的確是中美兩國關(guān)系的重要象征。

America the Beautiful, a song played at the welcome dinner for then US president Richard Nixon when he visited China in 1972 was played by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra. Baritone【男中音】Liao Changyong sang “Redwood” to commemorate the redwood saplings Nixon brought to China as a gift during his groundbreaking visit.

上海愛樂樂團現(xiàn)場還獻上了一首《美麗的阿美利加》。這首歌正是當時美國總統(tǒng)理查德·尼克松1972年訪華時歡迎晚宴上演奏的曲目。男中音歌唱家廖昌永演唱了一首情懷之作《紅杉樹》，以紀念當時尼克松帶來的訪華禮物：紅杉樹種子。

“The saplings that Nixon brought to Hangzhou are now part of a large forest. Each of the songs played at tonight’s concert is related to the history of the Shanghai Communiqué. These songs are also familiar to both Chinese and Americans, such as Butterfly Lovers and Ode to Joy.” 當年尼克松帶來的紅杉樹，在杭州播下第一顆種子，現(xiàn)在杭州已經(jīng)有很多了。今晚每個曲目都是跟中美公報發(fā)布50年有關(guān)的，都是中美人民經(jīng)常能聽到的、通俗一點的，比如《梁?！贰ⅰ稓g樂頌》等等。

Cultural exchanges between the two countries date back to 1973, when the renowned Philadelphia Orchestra toured to China following Nixon’s visit. The orchestra gave six performances in Beijing and Shanghai, their repertoire included western classics as well as some Chinese pieces, like The Yellow River Piano Concerto.

中美兩國間的文化交流可以追溯到1973年，當時著名的美國費城交響樂團緊隨尼克松來到了中國。該樂團在北京和上海進行了六場演出，演奏了西方經(jīng)典以及黃河鋼琴協(xié)奏曲等中國曲目。
