I was running a few errands

in my car the other day.?

The sun was out,?

the radio was playing,?

and I was singing along.?

前幾天我在自己的車(chē)子里處理一些事情

太陽(yáng)出來(lái)了

收音機(jī)播放著

我跟著里面唱起歌來(lái)

The song was a joyful one?

and even my weak voice?

sounded good singing it.?

Then it happened, however.?

The sweet sound of the music ended

and was replaced with the dreaded news break.

歌曲的旋律歡快

我五音不全也能唱好

突然優(yōu)美的音樂(lè)停止了

取而代之的是駭人聽(tīng)聞的一些消息

I drove on while the announcer droned on.

Gas prices were going higher again

because of the competitive speculation

on Wall Street.?

我邊開(kāi)著車(chē)邊聽(tīng)著廣播

由于華爾街上的投機(jī)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)

導(dǎo)致油價(jià)的上漲

The race for the Presidency?

was getting nastier and nastier,?

Rioting had broken out?

when fans of a sports team had gone wild,

celebrating their team’s championship.

總統(tǒng)競(jìng)選變得越來(lái)越手段骯臟

粉絲在慶祝喜愛(ài)的運(yùn)動(dòng)隊(duì)伍

取得比賽勝利時(shí)候

發(fā)生了暴亂

Finally, I could take no more?

and turned off the radio.?

最終我不堪忍受這些負(fù)面新聞之重

而關(guān)掉了收音機(jī)

Silence seemed preferable?

to listening to anything else?

about the crazy, competitive society we live in.

I slowed down as I entered a local town?

and watched the people as I drove by.

此刻的寧?kù)o

比聽(tīng)那些令人糟心

揭露社會(huì)瘋狂、競(jìng)爭(zhēng)新聞要好多了

我減速來(lái)的鎮(zhèn)上

看經(jīng)過(guò)的人來(lái)人往

A tall muscular man

was helping an elderly lady out of a car?

and helping her position her walker?

so she could go into a local store.

一個(gè)身材高大壯碩的男子

正在幫一位行動(dòng)不便老婦人

從車(chē)?yán)锍鰜?lái)并幫她安放好助步器

這樣她就可以去當(dāng)?shù)氐纳痰?br />
A smiling woman

was tossing birdseed into her backyard?

while a dozen Robins?

flew down to enjoy the feast?

being laid out before them.

一位面帶微笑的婦人

在她的后院給一群知更鳥(niǎo)投食

那些鳥(niǎo)兒可以大快朵頤

A young man was walking along,?

carrying his two-year-old daughter safely?

in his arms.?

一位年輕的父親走來(lái)

將他兩歲的女兒摟在臂彎

看起來(lái)安全感十足

He tickled her gently?

when she pulled the hat off his head?

and they both laughed.

當(dāng)女兒試圖去拉他的帽子

他開(kāi)始撓女兒癢癢

他們都開(kāi)心的笑了

I laughed too?

as I looked at all of this kindness.?

當(dāng)看到生命中這些溫暖美好的事情

我也笑了

It felt like a glimpse of Heaven.?

The radio may have been off in my car,?

but in my heart I was still singing.

盡管車(chē)?yán)飶V播被我關(guān)了

但是我的心仿佛隨著之前播放的歌曲

悠揚(yáng)的唱了起來(lái)

In truth,

this world could use a little more kindness?

and a lot less competition.

我所感到生命的真諦是

這個(gè)世界可以多一些美好

少一些競(jìng)爭(zhēng)

Kindness makes us all winners in this life.?

Kindness reminds us?

that we are all God’s Children.

Kindness shows us

that we don’t have to beat others in this world.

帶著善意讓我們每個(gè)人都是贏家

讓我們覺(jué)得自己是上帝之子

不需要打敗這個(gè)世上的任何人

We just have to love them.?

May all of your moments here?

then be full of kindness, love, and joy.?

我們只要自然的愛(ài)著

只愿生命的每一刻都平順喜樂(lè)

And may your only competition be with yourself:?

to be the best possible you that you can be.

愿我們永遠(yuǎn)都以超越自己為目標(biāo)
